Speed
The funnel
Five places a store loses the sale.
Conversion rate is one number hiding five separate problems. Ecommerce conversion rate optimization means measuring each stage separately, because a store losing people at checkout needs nothing at all done to its homepage.
01
Landing
They arrive and cannot tell what you sell.
Above-the-fold clarity, load speed on a real phone, and whether the page matches the ad or search result that brought them. Landing page optimization is where most paid traffic is won or lost. Most bounce happens before anyone reads a word.
- Message match
- Mobile speed
- Hero clarity
- Trust signals
02
Browsing
They cannot find the thing they came for.
Collection structure, filtering, search quality and how many taps it takes to reach a product. Large catalogs lose more here than anywhere else on the site.
- Filters
- Search
- Sorting
- Navigation
03
Product page
They are interested but not convinced.
Imagery, variant selection, sizing, delivery expectations, returns and reviews. This is where most of the winnable percentage sits, and where we spend most of the work.
- Gallery
- Variants
- Reviews
- Delivery & returns
04
Cart
They add to cart and then leave.
Shipping cost surprises, unclear thresholds, discount code hunting and a drawer that hides the total. Almost always fixable in the theme rather than with another app.
- Shipping clarity
- Free ship threshold
- Cart drawer
- Upsells
05
Checkout
They start paying and abandon halfway.
Payment methods, express checkout, form friction and the checkout customizations Shopify actually allows. Less room to move here, but the drop-off is expensive when it happens.

- Express checkout
- Form friction
- Trust badges
Research
We look before we touch anything.
Every agency has a list of best practices. Most of them are wrong for your store specifically. So the first two weeks are spent finding out what your visitors actually do, not what a case study on another site said.
Watch
Session recordings
Real visits replayed, focused on sessions that reached the cart and left. You see the rage clicks yourself.
Measure
Funnel analytics
GA4 and Shopify data split by device, source and new versus returning, so averages stop hiding the problem.
Map
Heatmaps and scroll depth
What people actually reach on the page, and how much of your carefully written content nobody ever sees.
Ask
On-site polls
One question at the exit point. Usually the fastest way to learn what information was missing.
Test
Moderated user tests
Five people from your audience given a task and asked to talk through it. Uncomfortable, and always useful.
Compare
Competitor teardown
What three rivals do differently at each funnel stage, and which of those differences are actually worth copying.
Testing
Being honest about what your traffic can prove.
Most Shopify stores do not have the traffic for a statistically valid A/B test inside a sensible timeframe. Agencies that run them anyway are selling you noise dressed up as a result.
Over 50k sessions
Proper A/B testing
Split tests with a sample size calculated in advance, run to significance and not stopped early because the first three days looked good.
10k to 50k sessions
Fewer, bigger swings
Testing whole page concepts rather than button colors, because only large differences are detectable at this volume.
Under 10k sessions
No testing, just fixing
We fix the clear problems the research found and measure before-and-after over full months. We will tell you this rather than sell you a test program.
What is included
Conversion rate optimization services, every month.
Implementation is included. We do not hand you a document of recommendations and leave your developer to work out what we meant.

Process
Research, fix, prove, repeat.
CRO is a loop, not a project. The first cycle takes about six weeks. After that we run one every month against the backlog.
01
Instrument
Analytics checked, recordings and heatmaps installed, baseline conversion rate recorded per stage.
Week 1
02
Research
Recordings watched, funnel analyzed, polls run, competitors torn down.
Week 2 to 3
03
Hypothesize
A ranked backlog of changes, each with the evidence behind it and the expected effect.
Week 3
04
Build
Design, copy and theme development for the top items. Everything mobile-first.
Week 4 to 5
05
Measure
Test run to significance where traffic allows, before-and-after where it does not.
Week 5 to 8
06
Write it up
What changed, what moved, what did not. Losing tests get reported the same way winning ones do.
Per cycle
CRO work
Stores we have worked the funnel on.
Usually alongside a redesign or a paid media program, because that is when the traffic is worth optimizing.
Luna Nueva Tequila
Product page rebuilt around the additive-free story, with delivery and age-verification friction cleared.
Kehrääjän säie
Large yarn catalog. Color swatches and filtering rebuilt so shoppers could actually find a shade.
Cipher Athletics
High-consideration equipment. Specification, financing and delivery information moved above the fold.
Questions
Conversion optimization questions.
How much traffic do I need for CRO?
Around 5,000 sessions a month before the work is worth paying for, and closer to 50,000 before proper A/B testing can reach significance in a reasonable time. Below 5,000, spend the money on getting traffic first and we will say so.
What conversion rate should I expect?
It depends entirely on your category, price point and traffic source. A store selling a USD 30 impulse product and one selling USD 3,000 equipment should not be compared. We set your baseline first and improve against that, not against an industry average.
Do you use a CRO app?
Rarely. Most conversion work belongs in the theme, where it does not add a third-party script to every page load. Adding 400ms to your site to test a headline usually costs more than the test wins.
What if a test loses?
It gets reported as a loss and we roll it back. Roughly a third to a half of well-designed tests do not win, and any agency claiming otherwise is either cherry-picking or not measuring properly.
Can you work on our checkout?
Within what Shopify allows. Standard checkout has limited customization, Plus and checkout extensibility give more room. We will tell you which of your checkout problems are actually fixable.
Do we need a full redesign instead?
Sometimes. If the research keeps finding structural problems rather than page-level ones, we will say a rebuild is the better use of your budget rather than selling you twelve months of patches.
Should we hire a conversion rate optimization expert or an agency?
A freelance CRO expert can do the research and write the backlog. What they usually cannot do is build the changes in your theme, check speed after each one and run the test. We are a conversion optimization agency with developers on the same team, so the loop closes without a handoff. If your store already has a good developer, the audit alone might be enough.
Does this work for non-Shopify sites?
The research does. Website conversion optimization is platform-agnostic: recordings, funnels and polls work the same on WooCommerce or a custom build. Implementation is Shopify only, because that is where our developers are fast. For other platforms we hand your team the backlog with designs and copy.
